The Dutch oven is one of the greatest items to come along as far as camping cooking supplies go in the past 100 years. These ovens are the most versatile and helpful camp cooking items you’ll ever see. The easiest way to use your Dutch oven is to use it like a slow cooker and make a stew. Just throw all of your ingredients into the pot – some meat, veggies, spices and flavorings, and water – and then put the oven on the edge of your campfire. Put some coals around it and make sure everything is stable – you don’t want anything tipping over – and then you’re set. Come back in a few hours and the stew will be piping hot and ready to go. Delicious food is never more than a few hours away.
