A Journey Through Almoradi
When I first arrived in this part of Spain I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic atmosphere and the amount of different things that one can do here. We landed in Alicante airport which is a short drive of about half an hour from our Almoradi hotel and I was immediately taken by the sweet smelling, soft, warm Spanish air. We got through the police checkpoint with no fuss and set off on our way.
The roads here are absolutely fantastic. Either you’re going to use one of the motorways which stretch up and down this country, or you’re going to be using the side roads. Some of the motorways have tollbooths on them but the cost is very minimal and it’s well worth it for the convenience of getting to your destination on time and without being rattled to death like on some European roads. And the back roads, well when you drive on the back roads it seems like you are going to discover something new around every different corner. It’s really an amazing country.
Anyway, I digress. We arrived in Almoradi and decided to have a look around the town itself. I had read quite a bit about the area before we decided to vacation here and I particularly wanted to read about the town of Almoradi. It seems Almoradi and most of the Vega Baja Valley were hit by an earthquake in the early 19th century. There were a lot of people killed and injured in the town and most of this area, including Almoradi itself, was completely leveled. So, if you’re looking for buildings that are older than early 19th century then you’re going to be disappointed because there’s not much left from that period. I’d been told though that there are pieces of building that were salvaged from the rubble and incorporating into some of the buildings that were erected subsequently, so there are still some pieces here from the old architecture.
This town is so charming. It has a real Spanish feel to it. We spent our first evening just strolling up and down the avenues stopping in one cafe for a peaceful cup of coffee and strolling on until we sat outside a really small quaint bar to sip at a cold beer. All the time we were just watching the World go by, watching the Spaniards in their evening routines. If you’re in Almoradi you should come to visit the casino. Also worth a visit is the large market that is here every Saturday morning. We managed to get in a round of golf at one of the local golf courses, and there are plenty of golf courses in the area. Then it was down to the beach, and what a beach that his, pure white sandy beaches … well, there you go, the Costa Blanca.
We didn’t know what to expect from our Almoradi accommodation or we were pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious and contained everything that we needed including tea and coffee, a great air-conditioning system, a TV system that aired programmes in English, a very comfortable bed, and of course a very clean bathroom. The service was excellent and we would definitely recommend a particular hotel to anyone. Actually, we would recommend a stay in Almoradi to anyone who is looking for a real Spanish experience.

Windsurfing Beach in Cyprus
There really is a plethora of beaches in Cyprus to choose from and if you’re looking for detailed information on each one then I would suggest you visit www.guide2cyprus.com. For the purposes of this article, I would just like to draw your attention to one of the many beaches around Limassol. The Acti Olympion beach, like many of the beaches in Cyprus, is a blue flag beach and maned by lifeguards during the high season, which is just as well as the water can be a bit rough at times. However, this is the main benefit of this beach, it is not necessarily the most ideal or picturesque for those who are just interesting in sunbathing, but if you’re looking for water sports, especially windsurfing then this is definitely a location to consider. There are plenty of good facilities here including changing rooms, toilets and showers, so grab your gear and enjoy the waves.

Our Favorite Bandon Oregon Hotels
Many Oregonians like to get away to the beach for a few days of rest and relaxation. The busiest beach towns along the Oregon coast are located in the northern half. But the southern beaches have their own charm and character and, although make a bit longer drive from places like Portland, make for a great weekend walking the beach and rockhounding or whatever. Our favorite town on the south coast is Bandon. We have been coming to Bandon long before it became famous for the Bandon Dunes golf courses. And we keep coming back today and staying at the same Bandon hotels we did back then.
A couple of the Bandon Oregon hotels that we like best are the Bandon Beach Motel and the Driftwood. The Bandon Beach is located up on Beach Loop road with a view of the ocean and Face Rock. The Driftwood is right across from Old Town Bandon and very convenient for walking around that area. Either one is great and you won’t be disappointed.

Dolphins at Disney World
Here’s something that’s pretty cool. If you are going on a trip to Disney World, you can book one of their unique backstage tours to enjoy a Disney dolphin swim. Known as Dolphins in Depth, the tour includes a comprehensive tour of Epcot’s aquarium and then you get into the water with the dolphins for a half hour.
The trainers show you how to do commands for different tricks that the dolphins can perform. Then you get your picture taken with the dolphins too. It’s all included with the experience. If you want to do the tour though, you need to be at Disney World on a weekday because they don’t do the dolphin encounters on weekends. The 3 1/2 hour tour costs a little bet less than $200 and you may be able to get some discounts for it if you are a member of AAA or the Disney Vacation Club.

Children’s Travel Pillow
If you are a parent, you know that one of the hardest things to watch your child do is fall asleep in their car seat. Sure, they look absolutely precious back there, so peaceful and innocent. The only problem is their neck is so strained and pulled by their heads being flopped to one side or handing forward. The seat provides safety, but it doesn’t provide much comfort if your baby falls asleep.
This is a good case for getting a travel pillow for a child. These pillows can either be rolls that fit around your child’s head and are sort of like wedges or a long coil that simple keeps their head in place or actually cradle their head and neck. The latter style is shaped like a “U” or horseshoe and is just like the ones made for adults. You’ve likely seen these in airport gift shops or in flight magazines. They are a great option that can keep your little one safe and comfortable in their seat as they sleep.
