Laser Liposuction, A Safer Option To Traditional Liposuction?

In: Hobbies and Crafts

Laser liposuction requires the patient to receive local anesthesia, while traditional liposuction surgery requires the patient to receive general anesthesia. Complications are known to arise during and after the administration of anesthesia and the smaller required dosage in itself is a huge health advantage.

Still, it is recommended that patients avoid any drugs or chemicals that may raise the heart rate since local anesthetic solutions contain epinephrine which is known to elevate the heart rate. The most common things to avoid are caffeine and some cold medication before laser liposuction treatment.

It is important that the anesthesia, regardless of whether it is for liposuction or laser liposuction, is administered by a trained anesthesiologist and not a lesser qualified nurse. But since the patient receives only local anesthesia, there is an open line of communication with the doctor in case anything unusual is experienced by the patient. This makes laser liposuction a much safer than traditional liposuction.
