Measuring For Your Futon Cover Fit

When you are going to measure your mattress to get the right size futon cover, realize that you are going for an ‘as accurate as you can be’ type measurement.  Futons are notoriously oblong and have rounded edges and such.  This can make it a bit more of a trick to get an exact measurement.  What you will be measuring is the length and width of the futon to get the size for your cover.

You can simply consider one side ‘short’ and one side ‘long’.  Then, find where your measurement falls to get the size cover you need to buy.  The numbers you should use for reference are twin: 36-41 inches (short), 72-76 inches (long); full: 52-55, 72-76; queen:  58-62, 78-82.  One more thing to consider is the thickness of your mattress.  Standard thickness ranges are usually 4 – 6”.  With these measurements in hand, your futon covers fit should be just like a fitted sheet.
