Small appliances are very handy in certain situations.  There are many locations where there just isn’t enough space for a full size refrigerator or freezer. Fortunately, there are some appliances that are the perfect size to fit into these spaces.

It is important to realistically think about what your needs are?  Are you going to have enough food to fill up a full-sized fridge, or will a smaller one suffice?  Refrigerators and freezers come in all sizes, from the mini refrigerator to the giant French door model. I recommend getting one as large as will easily fit into your kitchen.

Mini refrigerators are great for offices and small apartment kitchens.  Nearly every dorm room has one of these in them to keep drinks, snacks, and leftover pizza chilled.  The only bad think about them is that their freezers usually don’t work very well.

If you are going to need to freeze many items, it makes a lot of sense to spend a bit more and get a unit that has a working freezer. You have 2 choices in this matter:  You can either get a combination mini fridge freezer with separate compartments, or you can just get a separate small freezer all together.  Just remember that the mini fridges with little freezer pocket in the upper portion don’t usually work very well at all.

A good choice if you are going to have many frozen things is to get a completely separate freezer compartment.  They have a cool mini freezer that comes in both upright and chest models.  The difference between the two is how the door opens – on the top or in the front.

Choosing a mini appliance is easier to do once you know the maximum dimensions of the area you are going to put it.  It is a great idea to use a tape measure, and then bring along the dimensions when shopping so you know what sizes will fit.
