There are a lot of people who collect dolls in the world.  Some people stay very general in their collecting, but many focus on one particular line of dolls or some specialized type of doll that is often representative of an era.  A lot of money gets spent on very old antique dolls from as long ago as the 1800s.  Some of these are very well detailed, but many are not.  Much of their value comes from just being such an old doll.
